18. VESA democratic representation model
18.1 Without limiting the effect of the specific Rules in this Constitution, the table below summarises the VESA democratic representation model.

| Up to two Regional Councillors elected by every Local Unit (from amongst their number)
| Elected every second year (in the same calendar year in which the Unit's respective Regional Council elects a director to the Board.) at a Local Unit meeting held between 1 February and 31 March
| Two year term. (May be re-elected.)
| Director
| One Director elected by each of the seven VESA Regional Councils (from amongst their number)
| Elected every second year at a Regional Council meeting to be held between 1 May and 31 May each year.
| Two year term commencing immediately following the conclusion of the next occurring VESA annual general meeting (May be re-elected.)
| Officer of the Association
| Elected by the Board from amongst its number.
| Elected annually at the Board meeting immediately following the VESA annual general meeting
| One year. (May be re-elected.)
| Independent Chairman (if appointed.)
| May be appointed by the Board (at the Board’s discretion)
| Appointed as / when determined by the Board
| Maximum two year term (May be re-appointed.)
